Care Team Doctor Iain Davies, a Consultant in Emergency Medicine at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton hosted an extremely successful trauma education day in November 2017. A group of doctors from the Emergency Department attended to learn about a variety of topics from Catastrophic Haemorrhage to Airway Management, Thoracic Trauma and Environmental Conditions. The education day also had practical sessions on Surgical Airways, Chest Drain Insertion, Long bone splintage and Spinal Immobilisation.
Congratulations to CARE Team members Dr Julie Robin, Ash Lowther and Cat Bryceland on passing the Diploma in Immediate Medical Care (DIMC) examination, from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.
West Midlands CARE Team encourages all its members to work towards the DIMC examination, irrespective of base profession. Candidates must demonstrate a comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical competency across the full range of the Pre-hospital Emergency Care presentations.
The Team’s pre-hospital training program aims to prepare our members for the examination through targeted on-shift teaching, monthly educational sessions and dedicated exam preparation days. The exam also requires a significant time commitment on behalf of the candidates to study and train for success.
Well done ladies!
Congratulations to CARE Team Doctors Chris Abbott, Haf Aladin, Andy Owen, Ryan O'leary and Ian Russell who have taken part in Velo Birmingham to raise money for the team!
