Pre-hospital Care Programme
The West Midlands CARE team has a long history of providing pre-hospital training opportunities to aspiring prehospital providers in the voluntary aid, emergency service and medical undergraduate communities across the West Midlands.
At the core of this training is the monthly Third Thursday evening educational sessions delivered on behalf of the Faculty of Prehospital Care at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. These lectures cover a variety of prehospital topics and are delivered by a wide range of local and national subject matter experts. Click HERE to see the current program.
Looking to the future, we are in the process of establishinga CARE team Pre-Hospital Care Program (PCP) that will serve as our platform for delivering the knowledge and experiential training opportunities to FPHC level 1-4 prehospital providers (non-registered healthcare providers and medical undergraduates) across the region in the years to come. The team has strongly supported the integration of Prehospital training into undergraduate medical training since its inception 25 years ago. Through a collaborative partnership with Birmingham Medical School the team was able to develop and deliver the highly successful Undergraduate Pre-Hospital Trauma Course (UGPHTC) to over 5000 Birmingham University Medical Students over a period of 15 years.
