Teams comprise between 2 and 4 members per shift, operating with a Clinical Lead and a Clinical Support as a minimum. The shift team is often supported by a Vehicle Commander, performing blue light emergency response driving.

In addition and as part of our commitment to training and development, the team is regularly joined by trainee or junior members, gaining valuable experience and insight into Pre-hospital CARE.

The team treats patients of the West Midlands, responding to 999 calls for the most urgent or serious cases. A high proportion of these cases are related to trauma; road traffic collisions, falls and interpersonal violence. The team has a strong relationship with the regional Major Trauma Centre and actively collaborates with providing enhanced CARE to the scene of incidents, including damage control surgical interventions and pre-hospital blood resuscitation.

The other major proportion of cases we respond to are medical emergencies; cardiac arrests, breathing difficulties including choking, severe seizures and critically unwell adults & children. We carry equipment and expertise to provide life saving & sustaining interventions; including mechanical chest compression device, advanced airway management and additional medications, not available in a routine pre-hospital response.
