Recruitment and Selection

The reputation and success of the CARE Team is dependent on both the clinical experience of our team members and the way in which they are perceived by our patients, ambulance service colleagues and receiving hospitals. A robust selection and training process is required to ensure that all CARE team members have the necessary skills, experience and personal qualities to work within our team.

Our trainee slots are in high demand and availability is dependent on flow of trainees through our core training program.

On receipt of your application we will:

  1. Determine whether you meet our person specification.
  2. Score your application using our application scoring system in order to rank you against other applicants.

Within 6 weeks of receiving your application you should receive notification as to whether your application has been accepted or rejected. If your application is rejected at this stage we will try to give you feedback on why.

Successful applicants will be notified and added to our applicant pool and given details of when the next selection day is being held. The wait may be prolonged and in the interim we will provide you with advice on how best to prepare yourself for the selection day in order to give you the best chance of success.

We aim to run a team selection day at least once a year. The selection process consists of a documentation review, face-to-face interview and clinical skills assessment.  Applicants that are successful during selection will be invited to join the team as a Trainee, either immediately or when the next slot becomes available.

Individuals with significant prior prehospital experience may be considered for fast-track recruitment and training outside of these selection days. Applications over 2 years old will be automatically deleted.
